Though a lot of alcoholics admit that they need to give up the bad habit, not knowing how to stop alcohol abuse is the reason why they can't quit drinking. Its either you're legally responsible for something which happened or have been fired many times. Its either you were left by your partner or abandoned by members of your family because of how you have been behaving. All reasons why you need to look at your drinking and really consider giving it up.

People who believe they abuse alcohol are usually correct. However, admitting it is much easier than doing something about it. Most drinkers know in the back of their mind that they have a problem.

It would certainly be a lot easier if alcoholics can just buy Magic Pills to cure themselves. You could also be hypnotized to reduce or even eliminate your need for liquor. A time machine could also work because you could go back to when you actually started drinking alcohol.

The fact of the matter is there is no quick and easy method. First, you must learn how to live your life without liquor. Some people would crave for alcohol and this can be a lengthy and painful stage. If you want to be successful then you could utilize some tools and methods. . Others will just experience minimal physical pain. A lot of alcoholics have attempted to quit once or twice in their lives. Physically craving for liquor is something one could go through for years. You will not be successful if you don't learn to live a life with no liquor. For every one thousand alcoholics, only one stays sober for at least 2 years. You could be that ONE if you're really determined.



You will be unsuccessful if you do not follow the disciplined process to stop drinking liquor.

Admitting that you need to quit drinking alcohol is the very first step.

It could help if you jot down all of the reasons you can think of to quit drinking liquor. Write down each and every reason you could think of. Include those embarrassing times and the people you have emotionally and physically hurt. Keep it and make sure to read it if you feel like giving up the goal of stopping drinking liquor.

It could also help if you think about the money you spend every time you drink alcohol - purchasing it, going to pubs, the legal fees and income loss. Make sure you have the numbers right when you check your budget and credit card statements. Whether its physically, mentally or financially; alcohol abuse is detrimental in many aspects.

This type of truthful introspection is something you would need to get used to in order to come to terms with your life and recover fully. You would know when you're ready and committed to quit drinking liquor.

Go to a Physician

The damage done to your system is something only a physician can assess. The physician could also assess how you should quit drinking. There are two options - do it alone or be medically supervised in a hospital.

Tell People (that understand)

Telling those you trust that you would give up drinking liquor could also help since they would understand and help you. If you need support, these individuals would be there for you.

You Need a Support Group

If you would like to be with individuals who have gone through what you're experiencing then the 12 Step Meetings is the place to go to. There is sure to be 12 Step Meetings where you live so try to find them. Different types of meetings for different types of people with different types of problems. Try to attend as many meetings within your neighborhood or better yet, try to attend 90 meetings within ninety days. In these meetings, you would be given vital info about quitting.

Great job on getting to this point in your drinking career. Now its time to begin a new life?one that doesn't involve drinking alcohol.
