By Rosella Campbell

The advent of motorized vehicles have change the way people regard transportation forever. Before automobiles were invented, people had to walk long distances to get to places. Wagons and animal caravans were also a way to travel. When the first cars appeared on the streets, only the rich ones rode them, thus raising the car to the level of the elite.

At present, cars are still status symbols, but only the sleek high performing models that are manufactured by the most prestigious car brands. Ordinary people had to save for years to buy a decent brand new model. Some who have more important things to spend their hard earned money for simply decide on a second hand one. Others acquire the old ones that their parents used to drive. Well, wherever and whichever way you may have acquired your ride, it is of utmost importance to have it registered with florida DMV.

The DMV, which also stands for the Department of Motor Vehicles, is a state level government agency. This means that this is present in every state to administer registration plates, placards, and titles. It goes by many different terms unique to every jurisdiction, though the DMV is generally known by everyone in the context of renewal and issuance of licenses.

The agency is very important, especially for identification purposes. The ID card issued by the said agency has become one of the de facto proof to be presented in most transactions. This is most helpful for the public, especially as the country has no national identification card system.

DMV also regulates private driving schools, including their roster of instructors. This branch of the government also makes and issues the manual for drivers in every state, including the set rules that are unique to every jurisdiction. It is also in charge of conducting the hands on and written tests that every novice driver should take.

Identification numbers for every type of automobile is issued by this department. This tenancy also issues and grants registration plates and placards. It is the agency that decides to give you a temporary tag as well. This agency houses the office for the vehicle registration program that tracks down every registered vehicle that could be entangled in a certain crime.

This department is also the one you turn to for the issuance of vehicular titles as proof of legal ownership. Each state has its own set of regulations in registry. It covers most vehicles, excluding the off road types.

Upon transfer to another state, you will also have to have your car registered under the state agency. In Florida, newcomers are given a grace period of ten working days to comply with the requirements. The period begins upon your first day at work, or the first day of school for your kids.

Renewal of registry is another thing. Different states usually provide varying cycles and expiry dates. All of these depend on the type of automobile that you own. There are some vehicles that need to be renewed every two years, even.
