Racism In White Privilege Sports

By Leslie Ball

Diversity is one true privilege that every color, religion, or race must enjoy. This way, they are all granted with respect and rights that they deserve. The battle against racial discrimination is long and hard, yet it still exists up to this day. It is ridiculous how stereotypes classify themselves and others according to color and tradition.

The whites are considered dominant for many years. But that is simply because of their color and appearance. This unfair dominance is causing a lot of divisions among races. White privilege sports is an example of this irrational and unfair dominance. In the workplace, in school premises, business establishments or anywhere else, there exists a social indifference to other colors and races.

This term is considered by activists as a stereotypical concept of self greatness. It is sad that the rest of the society will have to make a lot of compromises to be able to fit in but if one is white, there is not much struggle. This is a clear unfairness and utterly irrelevant. Some activists insist that there must be no such thing as racial division because everyone must be treated equal.

There is no way the world will be able to attain equality and diversity if people will not make way to accepting each of their differences. There are so many stereotypes in this world who think that color, race, and culture matter so much. Those who belong to minority groups are treated with so much indifference.

Some areas in the society involves other races who have excelled and became famous. Take for example in sports. There are so many Asians and Black Americans or even cultural minorities who have become champions. They built their own names without relying on the so called race privileges. They struggled hard just to fit in and yet they still made it.

Similarly, there is no such thing as Asian privilege even if there are a lot of Asian greats who have won championship games and Olympics. For the whites who use the term, they have high regard of themselves. They are filling positions, rank, or privileges with their own color. This is entirely wrong and must be stopped. Everyone must have a fair share of everything, both tangible and intangible, regardless of race, religion, cultural inclination, or social rank.

In addition, the term is like a wall built between one race and a lot of other races. It is difficult to cross the line. In a work environment, for example, the wall makes it difficult for the business to advance. If workers have too much indifference, they will not be able to break this wall. And if they cannot break the wall, they will not be able to work together properly to achieve a single goal. They will be clouded with their own principles.

Bullying still happens in schools. Most disputes root from children or juveniles mocking each other because of their differences. Most of the time, the black children are being bullied by whites. Some Asians also experience this cruelty. They either get verbally abused, beaten and injured, or killed in the process.

It is good to know that many organizations are raising awareness campaigns in anti discrimination. But this is not enough to solve the problem. There is a dire need for a collective effort to make people accept differences. The government plays a big part in attaining this.
