Know Your Favorite Horrific Movie With This Daily Dread Review

Do you love horror? There have been several productions around the evil supernatural beings that you need to watch. Hollywood has really pushed its imagination to the limit and delivered some lethal doses of horrific stages on our screen. As part of our daily dread, we look at The Exorcist, one of the most horrific title of all times.

The 1973 American horror film adapted from Peter Blattys 1971 novel that had the same name. This novel was inspired by Ronald Doe case of exorcism in 1949. The movie storyline talks of a mother who is desperate to win back her demon possessed 12-year-old girl through exorcism that is conducted by two priests.

Warner Bros released the movie by the end of December 1973. The movie shined all the way to be nominated in ten different Academy Award categories. It scooped two of these categories one being adapted screenplay category and the other being best sound mixing. Many years later, it was nominated as the scariest movie by several entertainment authorities all over USA and Europe.

The film starts where a catholic priest who goes by the name Lankester Merrin who is seen excavating an archeological site in Iraq. He stumbles across an amulet that resembles a statute of a demon called Pazuzu. He had defeated the demon and banished him a few years back. He gets to know that the demon has come back to avenge his banishing.

At the same time, a famous actress by the name Chris Mac Neil is seen in her Washington D. C home playing Ouija board with his pre-teen daughter who goes by the name Regan. Soon after playing the keyboard, Regan begins strange actions, and makes mysterious noises in the room. She also uses foul language and exhibits abnormal strength. She goes on to cause her bed to shake, much to the dismay of her family.

Chris tries to help her daughter by taking her to the hospital. The doctors perform a series of tests on Regan without detecting a problem. They are not aware that the demon has possessed her. As days go by Regan kills the babysitter, and the acting director called Burke Dennings at night. The police step in with a detective called Kinderman taking over the case. His first two interviewees are Regan mother and a priest called Karras. Karras had lost his faith in Christianity after the mother died.

Soon doctors recommend exorcism as the only way to cure Regans condition. Chris, her mother calls in Karras to help. Karras refuses at first but after seeing words help me in her stomach and listening to a recording where she talks in reverse, he agrees to the request alongside another priest called Merrin.

The two priests try in vain to exorcise the demon as the demon plays with their minds. Pazuzu insults Karras late mother. Karras is dismissed after sometime. Merrin trys exorcism alone. However, Karras gets in and realizes that Merrin is dead. He pleads with Pazuzu to leave Regan and possess him instead. He sacrifices himself by throwing himself out of the window. Karras dies of head injuries therefore banishing Pazuzu away again. Regan recovers after some few days and goes back to Washington. Kinderman the cunningly becomes her friend in a bid to unravel the cause of Karras death. This is an interesting story that you should watch.
