A Look At The History And Services Of Funeral Home Smithers

Smithers began in the 1950s, owned by Emerson family. It first started as an Evergreen institution.In 1969 it was bought by A. F.Defrane and consequently changed its name from funeral home smithers to Funeral Home DeFrane. In the year 1986 its ownership changed again after it was purchased by R. A, Allan Schraderas.

In the subsequent years, its ownership has constantly shifted to different entities. In 1996, the lowen group took over its ownership from Allan Schrader who shortly afterwards sold it to Alderwoods who then became the owner until the year 2007.Service corporation international were the next owners after buying it from alderwoods.

This company has been in existence for more than 60 years serving people within the same area. Several changes have been effected since it was established. Some of these changes include; space has been increased gradually over the years. A number of structures have been constructed leading to improvement in efficiency in comparison to when the institution was started in the 1950s. These structures include; a big urn selection room and casket, a garage, a 100 seat chapel and a prep room. Other minor changes include renovation of the top floor that was formerly a 3 bedroom apartment to be used as an office.

This organization has operated for more than 60 years in the same locality since its establishment. However, those years have been characterized by a number of changes intended to improve the caliber of services renderd. The changes include; expansion of the space occupied, putting up more Structures which has led to improved outlook than it was initially. Some of the structures that have been put up over the years include; a large selection room and casket, a garage, a prep room and a 100 seat chapel. Other slight changes include the top floor which was before used as a three bedroom apartment being turned into an office.

Allan Schrader, despite having sold the organization before, served here until the year 2011 as a manager. In the springs of 2012, he left to join his two sons Lawrence and Darren to work on their Kamloops home. He was succeeded by Paul MacDonald as the manager. Paul had worked in the funeral home claypton in Quesenel for many years.He had been its managing director since his retirement.

The staff is highly qualified with many employees such as Joe Garcia, Christina Norton and the office manager having served for at least twenty five years thus have vast experience in this line of work . These great employees have ensured the organization continues to enjoy proper maintenance of the institution and efficiency as far as service delivery is concerned. This is attributable to their many years of experience in this particular field.

It offers personal and high quality caring services. Their services are largely celebrated as they give full funeral services to all their clients, They offer pre-paid funeral planning, facilities to all cemeteries and cremation among others. The home serves many places such as Houston, Kitwanga, Smithers and Burns Lake.Services are offered twenty four hours a day and seven days in a week.

The organization remains committed to helping its clients by offering it services at close family levels and generally helping the affected get over this challenging times.It works with all people regardless of faith and denomination of its many clients.
