If you do not have your own grass grown for this purpose, it is inevitable that you will have to rely on the stuff that are being sold around. You do have to make sure that you will not just end up going for items that are not that ideal for your horses to feed on. What you need this time is to get the right alfalfa hay for sale. Here are some very important factors that you need to consider first.

A number of things need to be considered though prior to heading out to those people that are selling the grasses. You want assurance that the one you are getting for your horses are appropriate for their consumption. You have to remember that there are all kind of these grasses that you can find around. Naturally, you want to focus on those that will be right for what you need.

Understand that there is such a thing as inequality among the available grasses that you can feed your horses with around. Remember that there are all types of grass and you have to be careful about getting the ones that you need the most. This is essential so you are sure that you will not have a tough time getting the ones that would suit the needs of your hoses best.

Get some close inspection done too. You have to understand that there is going to be a need for you to fins out if the bale you are buying is indeed a good purchase. A good indication that you are buying the right stuff is when you know that they are not dried up. Yes, the outer parts of the bale may tend to turn yellowish. But the inside of the bales have to be green still.

These grasses should smell right too. Experienced breeders can easily tell a suitable bale from a not so suitable one based on the smell it emits. What you are looking for here is a fresh, sweet smell. Good quality grasses will smell good. They would not smell musty. They do not smell sour too. Also, there should be no moisture on them.

If you are buying straight from the fields, then it is to be expected that the bales will be exposed to the elements, but if you are not, then see to it that they are placed somewhere to get them protected form, the elements. They should be placed in a shed that has ample covers. They should be protected from the sun and moisture with the use of tarps and other materials.

Once you have identified the name of a reliable provider that you refer to, rely on them. Make sure that you will consider the transactions you have had with them before. If you were truly satisfied with what they have to offer, then you have the choice to continue relying on them moving forward.
